After serving as an associate in an office in Iowa City for over a year, I discovered Integrative Diagnosis – the most advanced, conservative-care diagnosis and treatment system.

I was frustrated by the process of a typical chiropractic office.  Adjust the patient and let them go. If they don’t get better, tell them they need to be stretching more, doing more exercise, or purchasing hundreds of dollars of supplements.  Sound familiar?

The problem I had with traditional chiropractic offices was that there is never a real established diagnosis. Therefore patients would routinely return to the office for temporary relief.  Stumbling upon the Integrative Diagnosis system I found what I was looking for. A system that provides advanced diagnosis and the best way to treat each patient. It does not blend with a traditional chiropractic office, which led me to open Thrive Care in July of 2013.

I am very proud to currently be 1 of 4 Integrative Diagnosis instructors in the world!  Being considered one of the best in my field is an extreme honor.  I am grateful to be able to share my knowledge with other providers around the world and help their patients find relief they are looking for.  I am excited to come to the office each day to help our patients find relief from chronic pain and to help those who have been failed by the traditional model of conservative care.

My wife, Amber, and I were married in September of 2011 and we have 2 kids, Brecken and Brixley.  We enjoy living in Marion and spending our time in Corridor.

In my spare time I enjoy spending my time with family and friends, reading and studying (I’m a nerd), and watching Hawkeye sports.

Thank you for checking out our website and office!  If you are currently struggling with neck, back, or any other kind of chronic pain we hope to see you in our office soon!

Check out our list of conditions we treat to see how our team can help you find relief from your pain.

“It is important to me that patients walk out of our door with a clear understanding of their condition. That means that patients understand exactly what is going on, why it happened, and how their problem is going to be fixed. Patients deserve better care than what they have come to expect, and that is what we deliver in our office!” – Cody Scharf, DC

Growing up in Fort Dodge, IA, I received my high-school diploma from Fort Dodge Senior High in 2008. I  went on to earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science from the University of Iowa in 2011 and graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2015.

Prior to graduation, I was selected to be a Chiropractic Teaching Assistant in the Palmer Academic Health Center. In addition to my undergraduate and graduate degrees, I have attended numerous Integrative Diagnosis seminars under the direction of its creator, Dr. William Brady.

Through the Integrative Diagnosis System, I’ve obtained full body certifications in manual adhesion release and Instrument adhesion release therapies. I am proud to be one of only two level 5 full-body certified Integrative Diagnosis providers in the state of Iowa.

I am excited to share my passion in our office to ensure patients get exactly what they need. Patients deserve to have the cause of their pain identified and treated correctly where others have failed to do so. I am passionate and dedicated to improving lives, optimizing performance, and helping patients get back to activities they love — pain-free.

Outside the clinic, I enjoy being outdoors, playing sports, weight lifting, and spending time with my wife, Anna, and our dog, Atlas.

Office Manager

I joined the Thrive Spine and Sport team in June 2016! Originally from North English, IA, I grew up on a farm learning strong values. After graduating from English Valley High School, I continued my education at UNI and Hawkeye Community College where I studied Office Administration.

My family moved to Cedar Rapids in 2007 where I was able to be home with my three children, Paxton, Sawyer, and Truett, until they were all in school full-time. We currently live in Marion with my husband, Ben, and his son, Levi.

Being part of this team is such a privilege! I am honored to be a part of helping patients finally find answers to their chronic pain problems, and I look forward to meeting with you!

Naomi

Hi there! My name is Naomi. I was born and raised in Cedar Rapids. I was home-schooled through high school and continued my education at Concordia University Nebraska where I received my bachelor degrees in Studio and Ecclesiastical Art. Upon graduation in May 2016, I moved back to the Cedar Rapids area where I currently reside with my dog, Rafael.

I became part of the Thrive team in July, 2018. It’s such a great feeling to be a part of a team that genuinely cares about people. My absolute favorite part of my job is when our patients — after treatment — are able to do what they love, pain-free.

When I’m not in the office you can find me running, competing in CrossFit, drawing, painting, or spending time with family and playing with my dog, Rafael.

Kristi

As a native of Cedar Rapids, I received my high-school diploma from Washington High School in 2003. I went on to continue my education at Kirkwood Community College and the University of Iowa.

After joining the team at Thrive Spine and Sport in February 2018, I knew this was exactly where I should be. Serving as a Clinical Assistant to Dr. Cody has been rewarding in many ways. Helping to be a part of our patient’s healthcare solutions and seeing them find relief to their pain is what makes me excited to come to work every day! I am very fortunate to work alongside this amazing, dedicated team of staff and doctors!

Outside of the office, my husband Karl and I are busy chasing our two daughters, Lucy and Lennon. In my spare time I enjoy being outdoors, practicing yoga, and spending time with family and friends.

Amber

Being the newest addition to the Thrive team, I was excited to join this passionate and vibrant team in July 2019 full time.  After 12 years of working in the healthcare industry overseeing regional clinical operations and system initiatives; I am thrilled to be working in partnership alongside the patients, providers, and staff to achieve exceptional patient care with excellent outcomes!

Originally from Creston — a rural community in southwest Iowa — I graduated from high-school in 2001 and then pursued a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Iowa State University in 2004.  My husband, Cody, and I reside in Marion, IA and have two children Brecken and Brixley.

In my spare time, when I’m not at kid’s activities, I enjoy playing volleyball, crafting, watching sappy Hallmark movies, and spending time with family.
